September 3, 2010: The construction on the Anthony Henday has temporarily affected the water quality in the arena and we have been advised by EPCOR that the water is not drinkable at this time.

Please bring your own water to the arena for tryouts.
We will advise when EPCOR lets us know they've fixed the situation.

Hockey Program Director

CAC is pleased to announce the newly created Hockey Program Director position has been filled by a team of experienced hockey personnel.  The Hockey Program Director team will be responsible for the overall hockey operation of the Canadian Athletic Club including the development of players and coaches, and delivery of a competitive and high performance hockey development program. The team will consist of  Brett Cox,  Ross Perkins, Tim Fragle and Brett Elanik.

Brett Cox - Assistant Principal/Teacher Our Lady of the Angels School

Brett is the lead team member and brings a wealth of experience to the hockey program.  Brett has coached at the WHL and AJHL levels, most recently as the head coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Traders Junior A team (AJHL) and was  named the AJHL coach of the year in 2006-07. Previously he held the positions of GM/Coach for both the Olds Grizzlies (2000-05) and the Bonnyville Pontiacs (1997-2000) as well as an Assistant Coach of the Spokane Chiefs-WHL (1995-96).   He holds a Masters degree in Education from the University of Alberta where he also played for the U of A Golden Bears winning a National Championship. He has been involved with a number of sports programs at schools in Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan. Brett is tasked to oversee the CAC hockey program.

Ross Perkins - Retired

Ross is a former Edmonton Oiler hockey player.  He was also a member of the Edmonton Oil King team that won the Memorial Cup.  Ross recently retired from his senior position at Petro Canada.  Ross has coached at an elite Junior level after completing his professional hockey career.  Ross will be a senior member of this hockey program director team, and will directly be involved with coach mentoring.

Tim Fragle - GM/Head Coach Sherwood Park Crusaders Junior A Hockey Team

 Tim is a Canadian Athletic Club Alumni with a successful background as head coach of the CAC Midget AAA hockey team, and coach mentor for the other CAC hockey teams.  He was recently named General Manager and Head Coach of the Sherwood Park Crusaders Junior A hockey team.  Tim is a NAIT graduate in Business Management (specializing in Human Resources). During his time at NAIT he played for the NAIT Ooks hockey team, where he was the captain for 2 seasons. Tim played junior hockey with the Trail Smokeeaters from 1997-1999 and the Sherwood Park Crusaders 1999-2000. Tim also captained both of these teams. Tim has 12 years coaching experience.  He has coached the Canadian Athletic Club Bantam AAA, Fort Saskatchewan Midget AAA, five seasons as head coach of the Canadian Athletic Club Midget AAA hockey team. Tim is a qualified NCCP high performance Advanced 1 coach and has been the Head Instructor for the NAIT hockey school for the last 5 years. Tim coached the Edmonton South Bruins for the Alberta Cup and has help with Hockey Alberta under seventeen programs as well. He is also currently the Director of Hockey Operations for the Northern Alberta Selects Hockey Club.  Tim is also an Associate Director at the Vimy Ridge Hockey Academy in Edmonton.  Tim’s role will be to continue as a coach mentor.

Brett Elanik

Brett served as the head coach of the Canadian Athletic Midget AAA team and has also been an assistant coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Traders Junior A hockey team.  Brett has played at an elite level in Junior A.  He has served as a coach mentor for the CAC. In his new role, Brett will be a key member of the Hockey Program Director team, and will be an on-ice mentor to the CAC coaches.  Brett will also oversee the day-to-day development of the hockey program, including off-ice training and on-ice skill development for players.

The Canadian Athletic Club welcomes the Hockey Program Director team and wishes them great success in their new role.
